National Safety and Quality Cosmetic Surgery Standards

Joanne HurstHealth, Scheme / Program Update

With the introduction of the National Safety and Quality Cosmetic Surgery Standards (NSQCSS) in 2025, please review the below definition as defined by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality and advise Global-Mark if your facility requires the addition of Cosmetic Surgery Standards to your NSQHSS accreditation.

“Cosmetic surgery is defined as an invasive surgical procedure that involves cutting beneath the skin for the purpose of achieving what a person perceives to be a more desirable appearance. Procedures may include breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, surgical facelifts, cosmetic genital surgery, liposuction and fat transfer. Cosmetic surgery is not used to prevent, diagnose or treat medical diseases or conditions.”

It is important that Global-Mark are advised as soon as possible to ensure that we are correctly planning for your facility’s assessment.
