1. Tell me about your company – what industry you are in and what does your business do?
Warrina Services was founded by parents and community members who arranged social activities for people with a disability and registered as a Co-operative in 1986.
The service steadily grew and in 1997 introduced specialist support for people with a mental illness. Under this program we witnessed the lives of people be transformed as they moved from mental health facilities into their own homes. Initially people required intensive daily support but over time clients have become more independent, accessing social activities, participating in training and work and forming relationships.
Our mental health services have grown, and in addition to providing support to people experiencing mental ill health during acute phases of mental illness and recovery supports we provide, early intervention support, coordination and assistance to a diverse clientele of individuals with intellectual, physical, sensory and psych-social disabilities to have and maintain valued social roles in their community.
Warrina Services receives funding from the National Disability Insurance Agency and the Commonwealth Department of Health to provide support coordination, in-home and community access supports to people with a disability.
