Major Projects Group is a leading Demolition Contractor that trades as a Social Enterprise (certified by Social Traders) and donates half of its distributable profits to the charity, the Major Projects Foundation.
With a history dating back to the 1960’s, Major Projects Group has undertaken some of the largest demolition projects in the Southern Hemisphere, including the demolition of the BHP Newcastle Steelworks, where 106,000t of scrap steel, and over 99% of the entire Mill by weight was recycled.
As a result of a few mergers & acquisitions, the company was even listed on the Australian stock exchange during the 2000’s. After then almost a decade of mainly providing demolition consulting services, Major Projects Group re-entered the market as a demolition contractor in 2017, establishing itself as an innovative force within the demolition industry and a force for good for the environment.
In 2018, Major Projects Group engaged Global-Mark to undergo certification of its health & safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) management system. Major Projects Group’s HSEQ team has enjoyed working with the very knowledgeable and approachable Global-Mark representatives throughout the years. From the very beginning, the certification and recertification processes have been very smooth and professional.
Since achieving certification in 2018, Major Projects Group’s tendering team has found it easier to complete client pre-qualification and prepare major tender submissions, as the certifications demonstrate the company’s commitment to health & safety, environmental and quality.
As a result, with the company’s certified management system, its 40+ year history and a modern fleet of specialised equipment (with excavators ranging up to 250t), Major Projects Group has landed multi-million-dollar demolition contracts across Australia, and works for clients, such as Glencore, Orica, NSW Department of Education, City of Newcastle, Mach Energy Australia, and the Queensland Government.
This success also led to the company donating over $500K between 2018 and 2021 to the Major Projects Foundation; a marine research and conservation not-for-profit organisation with a focus on deploying engineering solutions to protect ecosystems and cultural heritage in the Pacific region.
