1. Tell me about your company – what industry you are in and what does your business do?
Established in 2018, FTA Projects is a boutique client side project management firm based in the Sydney CBD, and able to manage and deliver projects Australia wide. We have wide ranging experience delivering small and large office fit outs and construction projects, across Commercial, Retail and Residential sectors.
We pride ourselves on providing tailored service through clear communication and an understanding of the construction industry
Our aim is to deliver a complete service that will assist our clients from concept design right through to project finalisation.
Our Key Services:
- We work with the client to develop a comprehensive project brief. This ensures all consultants and contractors can be drawn back to a clear set of delivery outcomes.
- We conduct a feasibility analysis to review and analyse the potential opportunities versus the cost to achieve the outcomes. This allows us to establish budgets and resources required, and to contemplate any challenges that may arise.
- We brief the architect for the project and liase with them throughout the development of the concept design to ensure it meets client expectations.
- We commission more detailed plans and documentation ready for submission to relevant authorities.
Tender and Pre-Construction
- We oversee and manage the complex process of authority approvals.
- We develop contract documentation which accurately reflects the project brief and ensure relevant conditions are included to protect our client.
- We support and run a fair and competitive tender process empowering our clients to facilitate an effective decision-making process.
- We negotiate and facilitate a contract agreement which represents our client’s interest in terms of time, cost and quality, while also ensuring the contractors engaged are capable of delivering on the terms provided.
Construction and Completion
- We oversee and manage the construction process to ensure that the building contractor is delivering the project outlined in the brief on time, within budget and to a high standard.
- We carry out and manage regular inspections to ensure a defect free handover.
- We also manage and collate all mandatory certification and documentation, including those needed to achieve Practical Completion (PC) and the Occupation Certificate (OC). In addition we include documents such as Warranty Information, User Manuals and As Built Drawings to support long term successful management of the building.
2. Can you please provide some top level information about your organisation, such as size, number of staff, office locations or similar?
FTA projects are located in Sydney’s Barangaroo and manage projects for a variety of clients including NSW Government, private and Commercial and small and large developers. Types of construction projects FTA Projects manage include commercial and Government fitout, medium and high-density residential development projects, places of worship, schools office accommodation projects.
3. Why did you go through certification?
FTA projects decided we wanted to develop and base quality project management systems, governance and processes around the provision and delivery of consistent with utmost quality outcomes delivered, a system where employees could learn and adapt to ensure a quality and consistency is provided on each and every project delivered. FTA projects are also an accredited NSW Government supplier and required to maintain an audited quality Management system to ISO 9001-2016, WH&S and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001-2016)
4. How did you find the process with Global-Mark?
We have found Global-Mark to be really knowledgeable, proficient and responsive and have provided services in a friendly and collaborative manner. It has been a pleasure working with Phillip over the last 3 years, we have found Phil a pleasure to deal with and he has explained the process in simple terms making tasks and systems updates easier to understand and implement accordingly.
5. What is your outcome e.g. are you happy with the outcome?
We have maintained accreditation in QMS, EMS & WHS over the last three years which has allowed FTA Projects to maintain contacts and grow. Global-Mark have helped FTA understand the benefits of maintaining an industry and global standard QMS system and we are very happy with the outcomes achieved to date.
6. Are there any other business benefits you experienced as a result of becoming certified?
The result of being certified has allowed FTA Projects to maintain a preferred supplier status with NSW Government procurement on scheme 1191 for consultants in construction, this being a pre-requisite for being engaged for NSW Government projects. Also, by having a certified QMS system we have the confidence to expand with the knowledge our system is being maintained to a national recognised standard.
