Short Notice Assessments (NSQHS)
As we mentioned in our recent newsletter, The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care have advised that Short Notice Assessments will replace announced assessments from July 2023. This applies to all health service organisations where licencing requires accreditation to the NSQHS Standards. A fact sheet is available on the Commission’s website:

Fact sheet 17: Short notice accreditation assessment

What this will mean for facilities:  For facilities who are due to be assessed against the NSQHS after the 1st of July 2023, we will not be confirming assessment dates with facilities until 24hours (one full business day) prior to the assessment in accordance with

Fact Sheet 17

We will be requesting all facilities who are due for assessments between 1/7/2023 – 31/12/2023 to contact out Health Team to ensure we have your information up to date and current.

From the 1/6/2023, when we send our notification for Attestation Statements, we will also be asking facilities to provide an updated client profile with any changes to your facility details such as departments, beds, and staffing. This profile will also include information on any Not Applicable actions your facility has, confirmation on your facility opening/operation details (e.g. if patient are only scheduled set days a months) and up to 20 exclusion dates as allowed in Fact Sheet 17.

Clinical Trial Governance Framework
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care have announced that assessment for the Clinical Trial Framework will commence from 1 March 2023. This will be conducted in alignment with assessment of a health service organisations assessment to the NSQHS Standards.

For the first cycle (3 years) this will be assessed using a maturity scale. More information on the Clinical Trials Framework can be found on the Commission’s website: National Clinical Trials Governance Framework
