Joonya is a young company whose mission is to supply families with non-toxic, earth-friendly essentials such as nappies and wipes. We started selling Joonya baby wipes in 2016 and following the success of this first product we have now launched nappies that contain FSC® Mix certified wood pulp. Our rigid focus on sourcing responsible materials in our products sets us apart from most brands, while our unique aesthetics and online subscriptions allow us to deliver premium products direct to the doorsteps of families anywhere in Australia. Being a family-run business, our goal from the outset was to design the products we wanted to use on our own children. We are delighted to be the first Australian nappy brand to use FSC certified wood pulp, joining a network of companies that are focused on the future health of forests.
We are currently a rather stretched husband-wife team who use a lot of freelance workers to help out. Web development, graphic design, logistics and photography are all outsourced! We are currently located on the northern beaches of Sydney.
We decided to go through the certification process to ensure we made every effort to use responsibly sourced materials in our nappies, as transparency and sourcing responsible materials and ingredients are at the heart of our company’s mission. The importance of forests for future generations is something we believe strongly in, and FSC is the strongest certification scheme on the market. Despite the high hurdles to become certified, we believed it was worthwhile. Australians are very environmentally aware, and the FSC certification is becoming more well known by the day.
We found Global-Mark to be a professional and easy to work with organisation. We were running on a tight timeline to become certified, and the staff were very helpful in pushing through the steps as quickly as possible, to help us out.
We were successfully audited and are very happy with the outcome!
The process of becoming FSC certified forces procedures to be implemented that every business needs to focus on. For example, we have better workplace health & safety procedures, and clearer record-keeping as a result of becoming FSC certified.
