Equilibrium Air Conditioning (EQAC) specializes in providing comprehensive mechanical services design and construction (D&C) solutions. We deliver tailored air conditioning systems to suit a wide range of developments, including commercial office spaces, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, retail complexes, and industrial projects.
Our approach involves close collaboration with all stakeholders throughout the feasibility, design, and construction phases. From design engineering and drafting to project management, installation, and preventative maintenance, we manage every aspect of the project lifecycle. Leveraging state-of-the-art digital software and remote access communication tools, our field staff can seamlessly access and implement design, development, or installation variations in real time.
At EQAC, we pride ourselves on our engineering expertise. Our D&C approach is built on delivering value-engineered solutions that not only secure projects at the tender stage but also help clients and builders enhance project delivery and maximise Net Lettable Area (NLA).
2. Can you please provide some top-level information about your organisation, such as size, number of staff, office locations or similar?
Equilibrium Air Conditioning (EQAC) operates with a dedicated team of 56 professionals based at our head office in Norwest and site across Sydney metro. We also maintain site offices to support our larger projects, ensuring seamless coordination and on-ground presence.
Some of our notable site teams include:
- New Sydney Fish Market (NSFM): 15 engineers and project management staff overseeing 90 subcontractors directly.
- Chatswood Chase Redevelopment: 11 engineers and project management staff managing 30 subcontractors directly.
- Western Sydney Airport (WSA): 15 engineers and project management staff managing 40 subcontractors directly.
This structure allows us to maintain close engagement with stakeholders and subcontractors, ensuring the successful delivery of complex and high-profile projects.
3. What motivated you to pursue certification?
We pursued ISO 9001 certification to reinforce our reputation as a trusted and reliable engineering contractor while aligning with globally recognised quality management standards. Certification ensures that our processes are streamlined and efficient, enabling us to consistently meet and exceed customer expectations. It reflects our commitment to adopting industry best practices, delivering exceptional quality outcomes, and building stronger client relationships. Additionally, ISO 9001 has opened new opportunities by allowing us to participate in projects with stringent quality requirements, further solidifying our market position. This certification has been instrumental in our growth and success; 15 years ago, it would have been hard to imagine undertaking national icons such as the New Sydney Fish Market or the Western Sydney Airport project. ISO 9001 served as the stepping stone that enabled us to achieve our current status as leaders in the industry.
4. What was your experience like when working through the certification process with Global-Mark?
Excellent. Matthew our auditor was easy going, approachable and supportive throughout the audit process
5. What is the result you’ve achieved, for example, are you satisfied with the result?
The result achieved was of no surprise to us. There were several items that required action but none of major concern or that put our accreditation at risk.
6. Have you observed any additional business advantages that arose as a result of achieving certification?
Achieving ISO 9001 certification has provided several additional business advantages. It has enhanced our credibility and trust with clients, making us a more attractive choice for large-scale projects and partnerships. The structured processes and quality management systems have improved operational efficiency, reducing errors and delays while increasing overall productivity. Certification has also opened doors to new market opportunities, enabling us to bid on projects requiring stringent quality standards. Internally, it has fostered a culture of continuous improvement, boosted team morale, and aligned our efforts toward consistent excellence. These benefits have been demonstrated through key project wins, including Brookfield Place, Quay Quarter Tower (QQT), New Sydney Fish Market (NSFM), and now Western Sydney Airport (WSA), solidifying our competitive edge in the industry.
